Light burned magnesia powder is a raw material with medium alkalinity and chemical activity, which is also used in other industrial fields in addition to being a refractory and cementing material. In addition, the development of converter slag splashing protection technology has further expanded the application range of light burned magnesium oxide powder. At present, slag splashing furnace protection technology for magnesium oxide manufacturers mostly uses light burned magnesium oxide powder as balls, including light burned magnesium oxide powder balls, carbon containing light burned magnesium oxide sub balls, and carbon containing calcium containing light burned magnesium oxide powder balls. Feed magnesium oxide

Light burned magnesium oxide powder, abbreviated as light burned magnesium powder, is an active magnesium oxide obtained by calcining magnesite, brucite, and magnesium hydroxide extracted from seawater or brine at about 800 to 1000 ℃. Light burned magnesium powder is a light yellow or light brown powder, with particle size mostly below 100 mesh. Periclase crystals are very small, with a density of 3.07-3.22g/cm3. It has a large lattice constant, many lattice defects, a brittle texture, a porous structure, and high reactivity. It is easy to undergo solid phase reaction or sintering, and reacts with water to form Mg (OH) 2, which hardens and has a bonding ability.

Choosing the calcination method and controlling the light calcination temperature are important means to obtain good activity. With the increase of calcination temperature, the specific surface area of MgO decreases significantly. When the temperature is greater than 1000 ℃, the recrystallization rate of MgO increases, the dispersion decreases sharply, and the activity becomes poor. Using different calcination methods and equipment at the same temperature is also an important factor affecting the activity of MgO. If calcined in a fluidized bed furnace or a suspension furnace, it can be rapidly decomposed in an instant to obtain active light burned magnesium oxide powder. The use of large blocks in tunnel kilns and reflex kilns, which take a long time to calcine, often leads to surface overburning and internal combustion, which will reduce the activity of lightly burned magnesium oxide powder. Using a rotary kiln to calcine granulated magnesite, which is somewhere between the two, can also maintain good activity in obtaining light burned magnesia powder.
